Planning The Perfect Day In Southport
Travel & Things To Do
Posted by: SCC ADMIN 8 years ago
At Skydive Coastal Carolinas, we get one of the best views of Southport, NC – from above! Southport isn’t just great to look at though, there’s so much to do and we frequently make the most of having a top destination beach town on our doorstep. To help our visitors get the most out of their stay when they come to skydive with us, we put together a local’s guide of top things to do in Southport, NC!
WHERE TO WAKE UP
If you’re coming from further away and are planning to stay in Southport for the evening, there’s no better location than right on the beach. Start your day with a refreshing sea breeze on our beautiful shore.
The Robert Ruark Inn offers a great location and comfortable surroundings within traditional architecture, but what really makes it is innkeepers Linda and Rick. As well as providing comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast, Linda and Rick really go above and beyond to make your stay special. You will find them attentive and enthused and they even offer bicycles and complimentary tours of the town. Check out their rave TripAdvisor reviews!
Southport’s Hampton Inn is excellently located midway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach, making it a great base for enjoying all the activities in Southport.
If hotels aren’t your thing, or you’re a bit of a bargain hunter, there are tons of great beachside deals on AirBnB – have a browse.
WHERE TO FUEL FOR YOUR DAY
With a busy day of exploring ahead of you, you’re gonna want some energy. Plan an early start to get the most from your day and a great cup of java is a necessity. In Southport, there is only one place to go to get it – Jumpin’ Java Oak Island.
WHERE TO SPEND YOUR MORNING
It’s now coming up 10am and you’ve had a restful night’s sleep, a refreshing breakfast and coffee to get you going – time to begin your adventure.
Get yourself on the morning two-hour eco kayak excursion with The Adventure Kayak Company. Be immersed in nature on this guided swamp tour. A truly different tourist activity, explore the untouched backcountry as it was centuries ago under the guidance of knowledgeable and capable professionals.
WHERE TO LUNCH
Tour completed, you’re buzzing but also hungry and possibly a bit wet. No time to stop on this action-packed day, you’re looking for a quick and easy lunch. Skip the fast food and keep it authentic with the Oak Island Sub Shop. A local and visitor favorite, with a great range of hot or cold subs and salads too, it’s the perfect pit stop.
WHAT NOW?
You’ve spent the morning in nature and have filled up on some fresh food; we’d recommend you head back to your awesome beachside accommodation for a shower and refreshing power nap before stepping up the adventure…
WHERE TO SPEND YOUR AFTERNOON
The sky.
It’s time to see that view we love. Book a late afternoon skydive with us and you’ll jump above the swamps you just kayaked and view Bald Head Island, the lighthouse and our amazing coastline from a bird’s eye perspective. A skydive is incredible wherever you make it, but our views are truly something special that enhance the experience.
WHERE TO WRAP IT UP
It’s dinnertime and you’re feeling on top of the world. Now is the time for a sit-down meal, you want to have some great grub and reflect on your day. Though there are many great restaurants in Southport NC to choose from, there’s only one place to go – Mr. P’s Bistro seafood restaurant. You can’t visit the coast without enjoying fresh seafood and you can’t visit Southport without eating at the famous Mr. P’s. We’d recommend making a reservation.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
That concludes our perfect day in Southport. Ready to plan your trip? Start by booking your tandem skydive with Skydive Coastal Carolinas and we’ll make sure your trip to Southport is one you’ll never forget!
