The USPA coach rating course may take 3 to 4 days. The pre-requisites for the course are 18 years of age, current USPA membership, USPA “B” License (must meet requirements at the time of the course), Documented proof of 100 jumps Coach’s Course proficiency card, prior to the course section completed and signed on line which is Assist with a First jump course and take the Coach test on line at uspa.org. The coach course is designed to teach skydiving instructional information and to test your ability to teach performance-oriented training as well as evaluate your skydiving skills. It is also a prerequisite for most USPA Instructor ratings. There are four evaluations, 2 air and 2 ground. A course evaluator serving as a student in the air and another candidate serving as a student on the ground. You must demonstrate that you can teach the proper skydiving skills needed for the “student” to perform the jump; you will then take the “student” up for the jump; finally, you will de-brief the student on his performance and offer corrective instruction as needed for the “student”. This course does NOT require you to have AFF instructor level teaching or flying skills; just ability to teach correctly and adequate freefall skills. (Belly to earth skills… no heads down).
